Solvay Table Table.
During the years 1941 and 1942, Jean Prouvé's studio conceived and carried out several furniture equipment projects for the Solvay chemical company. From this work emerged, among many other designs, a wooden table that is almost representative of Prouvé's constructions: in it the needs of statics and the transmission of forces are clearly appreciated in its construction details, as in the later EM Table, which is distinguished from Table Solvay by its metal legs. Since metal was scarce at the time Table Solvay was designed, as a result of World War II, the table legs were made of wood.
Oil-treated solid woods give the Solvay Table a high-quality, cosy look and soften the technical coldness of the design.
