The "stackable" stool 60 was created in 1933 by Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) represents the quintessence of functionalist furniture design and represents the authentic best seller within Artek. It has unlimited applications, is attractive and very durable. The simple idea behind this now classic stool is based on three folded legs and a round seat. The secret to the success of the 60 stool lies in its unique curved legs that over time became the distinguishing feature of all Aalto furniture. It allows stacking a large number of stools and storing in very little space. The stool is also manufactured in a four-legged version, being called the E60 stool.
