The PMR Indoor Lounge Chair, conceived by Paulo Mendes da Rocha in the 80s, and which produces Objekto, is a work that transforms the flexibility of steel into pure comfort. Inspired during a visit to Molas Sueden's Indústrias dock factory in São Paulo, Mendes da Rocha visualized the design by looking at paper-thin sheets of steel. This material, initially designed for high-precision mechanisms, gave rise to a seat that evokes the sensation of floating.
The structure consists of two steel sheets joined by crossbars that allow three different inclinations. A central space between the blades releases pressure on the spine and improves muscle relaxation, while a cylindrical cushion ensures neck support.
It looks like a rigid seat, but its thinness makes it a flexible seat that bends with the weight of its user.
