Totem RR 231 Radiophonograph, designed by Mario Bellini in 1971 for Brionvega, is a design that emphasizes primary and elementary forms, geometric regularity that comes to the end of a long study on form and function. Totem is a simple cube that opens and reassembles modularly into a sophisticated high-fidelity sound machine, with two speakers that open to reveal the stereo module, radio, and turntable.
Bellini's sculptural intuition creates this rigorous monolithic design, allowing it to fit discreetly into the domestic space while remaining optically inevitable. A timeless object more art than design, but providing it with the best contemporary technology.
RR Totem 231 Brionvega, it has a marble base on which the sculptural plasticity of the reproduced sound is articulated and which makes each musical reproduction a moment of contemplation, a ritual, a static sound experience, always unique. When closed, the totem pole is a cube, open, instead, revealing a modern, cutting-edge technological heart. Bellini's totem pole is more than just a stereo system, it's a classic collector's item that sculpts sound and transforms it into art.
