He is one of the founders of Memphis Milano, this group of artists, designers who wanted to separate themselves from the large group of designers who were more focused within the established order at that time. Sowden leaned towards a more radical design that had a great impact.
Screen printing Drawing for Interior 1 is a screen print made on paper. Sowden was the only Briton to belong to the Memphis Milano design group. They introduced radical new concepts for furniture, lamps, ceramics, textiles, and combinations of colors and materials, as can be seen in screen printing.
