The Spanish firm gan rugs specialized in modern design rugs presents its Plastic Rivers collection, designed by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, which seeks to convey concern about plastic waste pollution in rivers.
For this reason, they are represented on a scale of 4 of the most polluted rivers, showing an original commitment with which to decorate residential spaces, as well as public transit spaces.

This family of four rugs is the result of the collaboration between the designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and GAN, who with their concern seek to raise awareness and combat, through craftsmanship, one of the great global problems of the industrial era, plastic waste.
Each carpet is a faithful and scale representation of one of the most polluted and polluting rivers on the planet: the Ganges, Indus, Yangtze and Niger.
The rugs are produced by hand, hand-woven using the hand-tufted technique and using recycled plastic fibres (100% recycled PET), a material that takes on new meaning and highlights the paradoxical beauty of its origins: rivers, wonders of nature, which have been turned into landfills that carry thousands of tonnes of plastic into the oceans.
